Ballads

Songs that are known and sung by bards and adventurers everywhere to keep their oral traditions alive.

The princess’s lullaby

Little if anything is known about the oragins of this song aside from it being beloved by bards as far back as anyone can remember.

(note from the website creator: the original inspiration and base for the song was a video called lullaby for a hero made by SnowcapMt and LoquaciousLK on YouTube)

Harvest has been cold

And the darkness unkind.

Stars have locked you away.

The blame was my own,

The punishment yours,

The rising sun is silent today.

But into the stillness I’ll bring you a song.

And I will your company keep.

Tell your tired eyes my lullabies,

I’ve carried you softly to sleep.

Once did a princess who shone like the sun look out on her kingdom’s side.

She cried and she said, ‘Surely there is no princess unlucky and so doomed to failure as I.’

So great was her task with weight on her shoulders that long was the shadow she cast.

Which fell dark apon the young hero she loved,

And only grew darker as days and nights past.

Lou lay my champions, good night hero mine, rest now in moonlight's embrace.

Care up my lullaby winds of the earth, through cloud and through sky and through space.

Carry the peace and the coldness of night, and carry my sorrow in kind.

My dear you are loved so much more than you know.

Forgive me for being so blind.

Soon did that princess take notice that others did not give her equal his dew.

And neither had she loved him as he deserved, she watched as the signs of impending doom grew.

But such is the way of the lime light, it sweetly takes hold of the mind of its host,

and that foolish princess did nothing to stop the destruction of those who needed her most.

Lou lay my champions,

Good night hero mine,

Rest now in moonlight’s embrace.

Bear up my lullaby winds of the earth,

Through cloud and through sky and through space.

Carry the peace and the coldness of night, and carry my sorrow in kind.

My dear you are loved so much more than you know.

May troubles be far from your mind.

And forgive me for being so blind.

The years now before us,

Fearful and unknown.

I never imagined I’d face them on my own.

May these fateful winters swiftly pass, I pray.

I love you,

I miss you.

All these miles away.

May all your dreams be sweet tonight.

Safe upon your bed of healing light.

And know not of sadness, pain or care.

And when I dream I’ll fly away and meet you there.

Sleep.

Sleep.

Sleep.

Of men and battle

A song commonly sung by followers of Kord believed to be the story of kord himself or one of his followers.

(Website creator note: the song was originally made by Chase Noseworthy for the video born to be a killer)

“You were born to be a killer,”

Says the giant in my blood

“The blade is your salvation,

Leavin’ bodies in the mud.”

“There ain’t need for no redemption.

Sheddin’ tears is for the small.

Let the little ones scream and shout

And beg for mercy as they fall.”

What do you do

When they look at you

Paralyzed by the fire in your eyes?

What do I do

When I was born to be a killer?

“You were born to be a killer”

Says the vilest of my kin

“Mercy ain’t our language

We wage war, and fight to win”

“It’s the duty of a Herdsman

To kill or die in shame

Never choose to spare one

We could use to feed our flames”

(Repeat Chorus)

(What do you do

When they look at you

Paralyzed by the fire in your eyes?

What do I do

When I was born to be a killer?)

Hard man with a heart that’s harder

A herdsman don’t need no honor

A man’s only as good as his armor

Don’t drop your sword

In battle we find our freedom

No emotions, we don’t need ‘em

The weak live to meet our steel

And feed our rage

I was born to be a killer

So a killer I shall be

I will stand between the lion

And the fawn that it would eat

I’m reborn as a protector

Of the little and the weak

In my love my strength is tempered

On the wicked my blade will feed

The Hangman's Lament

So named for the common belief that the song is about the raven queens servant the hangman.

Her soul and mine

They're one in the same

Split one in twain and we both feel the pain

The sins of one father run red in our veins

Through darkness and hunger, she remained

But her heart no more beats in tandem with mine

And I’m waiting for the wink, and the witty one-liner

For her to say she got me and hit me with a smile

But the hole in my chest says I'll be waiting for a while

I'll be your boatman, your reapеr

I’ll be yours, but you can't keep her

Lay me down on a bеd of raven's feathers

Dear sister, swear to me

You'll stay close, never out of reach

(Oh-oh-oh)

Do not go far from me

Until I'm gone

Mantle of death

Black-feathered crown

Lift up this body asleep on the ground

A soul for a soul, let mine be laid down

In this tomb I wish had never been found

You want (You want) a champion (A champion)

I want her back

So I'll be your boatman, your reaper

I'll be yours but you can't keep her

Lay me down on a bed of raven’s feathers

Dear sisters, swear to me

You’ll stay close, never out of reach

(Oh-oh-oh)

Do not go far from me

Until I'm gone

There’s no price too steep to pay

To bring you back to life

Losing you is more than I could bear

So swear

Dear sister, swear to me

You'll stay close, never out of reach

Do not go far from me

Until I'm gone

(others coming soon)
